RISING ENERGY BILLS HURTING YOUR BUSINESS?
TAKE ACTION FOR VICTORIA TODAY
To Premier Andrews:
Small businesses are the backbone of Victoria's economy and we work hard to be successful.
But rising energy costs are hurting our businesses. Electricity is a major cost and we have worked to be more energy efficient and reduce our consumption.
Despite this, our electricity prices are reportedly set to increase 40% over the next few years. http://www.theage.com.au/business/energy/gas-surge-after-hazelwood-closure-sends-electricity-prices-skyward-20170516-gw5r9r
These huge increases put our businesses and the jobs of those we employ at risk. They prevent us from expanding and employing more people.
While Victoria used to be an energy powerhouse, we are now reliant on importing electricity from New South Wales to power our businesses and operations, putting jobs at risk.
Experts have repeatedly warned that your extreme energy target threatens to make Victoria the new South Australia, with blackouts, job losses and businesses leaving.
Other states have seen the warning signs and are responding. Federal Labor has abandoned its formal 50% renewable energy target so we therefore call on you to end Victoria's 40% renewable energy target by 2025.
Victoria needs a sensible energy mix that keeps ours lights on, our business costs down and protects our environment. Without it, businesses like ours can't grow and support a strong Victorian economy.
