RISING ENERGY BILLS HURTING YOUR BUSINESS?
TAKE ACTION FOR NEW SOUTH WALES TODAY

To Premier Berejiklian

Small businesses are the backbone of New South Wales' economy and we work hard to be successful.

But rising energy costs are hurting our businesses. Electricity is a major cost and we have worked to be more energy efficient and reduce our consumption. But our energy bills are reportedly set to increase by over 20% next year alone. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/households-will-pay-up-to-400-more-for-power-because-of-the-rising-cost-of-wholesale-electricty/news-story/e48382071b273f212ab1b3584262517c

These huge increases put our businesses and the jobs of those we employ at risk. They prevent us from expanding and employing more people.

NSW is an energy powerhouse with our natural resources in the Hunter Valley. With our coal reserves, we should have some of the lowest energy costs in the world. But our coal is exported overseas to provide cheap and reliable energy to businesses in other countries, while we are hit with rising prices.

Experts have repeatedly warned that your zero emissions target threatens to make New South Wales the new South Australia, with blackouts, job losses and businesses leaving.

Other states have seen the warning signs and are responding. Federal Labor has abandoned its formal 50% renewable energy target so we therefore call on you to end New South Wales' target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

New South Wales needs a sensible energy mix that keeps ours lights on, our business costs down and protects our environment. Without it, businesses like ours can't grow and support a strong New South Wales economy.
